Springboks Bring Back Big Guns for Wallaby Clash

Date:

The Springboks have unleashed their heavy artillery for the highly-anticipated Castle Lager Rugby Championship match against the Wallabies at Suncorp Stadium in Brisbane. In a bid to tackle the Australians, coach Rassie Erasmus has recalled the tried and tested squad, making only three changes from the team that faced Ireland.

Sacha Feinberg-Mngomezulu gets the nod to start at flyhalf, while Ulrich Louw is set to make his debut in the green and gold jersey at No 8. Two-time Rugby World Cup-winning scrumhalf Cobus Reinach also returns to the fold, along with utility forward Ben-Jason Dixon, who takes his place among the replacements.

Feinberg-Mngomezulu, 22, earns his first start at flyhalf after four appearances off the bench this season, where he showcased his versatility by covering both flyhalf and fullback positions. Louw, meanwhile, gets his first start at No 8 after four replacement appearances since his debut at the beginning of the 2022 season.

Only six players have been retained from the squad that thrashed Portugal 64-21 at the end of July, including Louw, Reinach, Dixon, Feinberg-Mngomezulu, RG Snyman (lock), and Kurt-Lee Arendse (wing).

The match kicks off at 06:45 am SA time on Saturday, and with the big guns back in the lineup, the Springboks look poised to take on the Wallabies in what promises to be an epic clash.
