The coastal town of Richards Bay in the KwaZulu-Natal King Cetshwayo District is bracing itself for a thrilling two-day football feast as the 11th edition of the KZN Premier’s Cup kicks off on July 26 -27 .The prestigious pre-season tournament will feature six provincial clubs, divided into elite and second divisions, all vying for supremacy at the newly refurbished UMhlathuze Sports Complex.
First on the Menu will be AmaZulu, facing off against rivals Golden Arrows in the 1st eliminator on Saturday at 11 am, while Durban City will take on Milford FC at 2pm.
The entrance to the stadium is free, offering an exciting opportunity for local fans to witness top-class football.
Sunday’s schedule includes the second semi-final between hosts Richards FC and tournament debutants Midlands Wanderers at 09H00, followed by the winners of Saturday’s quarterfinals at 12H00. The tournament culminates in the final at 16H00, each team will receive R750 000 as a gift from the provincial government, a significant boost ahead of the new season commencing next weekend.
The KZN Premiers Cup 2025 promises to deliver intense competition, showcasing the best of provincial football talent,it will also mark the official reopening of the newly refurbished UMhlathuze Sports complex which has not been used for the past three seasons thus forcing both Richards bay and Milford to play their hone games in Durban,The African Perspective will provide comprehensive coverage of the event, capturing all the action and drama as it unfolds.
