Nquthu, KwaZulu-Natal – In a bid to promote men’s health and wellness, Mthashana TVEV Nquthu Campus recently hosted a successful Men’s Health dialogue, marking the closure of Men’s Month.
The event, attended by young males from the Umvoti Municipality, aimed to encourage them to take charge of their health and utilize the health facilities available at the TVET college. The Department of Health (DoH) urged the young males to become role models and stand up against Gender-Based Violence (GBV).
The Government Communication and Information System (GCIS) was also in attendance, motivating the young people to become economically active and leaders in their communities by championing change.
Student Development at Mthashana took the opportunity to educate the young males about depression and encouraged them to seek assistance from the student development department to support their academic progress.
In addition, the National Youth Development Agency (NYDA) offered a five-day Business Management Course to young people from the Umvoti Municipality, held at Gwinyamathe hall. The program, supported by stakeholders such as Social Development, DARD, and Umvoti Municipality, aimed to equip young entrepreneurs with the necessary skills to succeed in their Small, Medium, and Micro Enterprises (SMMEs).
On the final day of the course, participants showcased their businesses and presented their offerings to a panel of stakeholders, demonstrating why they are the best SMMEs. Certificates of completion were issued to all participants.
