Faith Kipyegon, a renowned Kenyan runner, achieved a remarkable feat on Sunday at the Diamond League track and field meeting in Paris. She broke her own record in the 1500 meters, completing the race in 3:49:04 and surpassing her previous record of 3:49:11 set in Italy last year.
Kipyegon, a two-time Olympic gold medalist in the 1500 meters, won in Rio de Janeiro in 2016 and Tokyo in 2021. She had only competed twice in 2024, in the 1500 and 5000 meters, to secure her spot for the Paris Olympics at the Kenyan trials in June.
Following her impressive performance, Kipyegon expressed her satisfaction with her execution and confidence in her preparation for the upcoming Paris Olympics, scheduled to take place from July 26 to August 11.
