eThekwini Sport Development Department Boosts Early Childhood Development with Generous Donation

Date:

DURBAN- In a move aimed at fostering healthy development in young children, the eThekwini Sport Development and Recreation Department, under the Community Services Committee, has donated a wide range of sporting equipment to the KwaMasuku Early Childhood Development (ECD) Centre.

This initiative, warmly welcomed by the leadership of the Community Services Committee, is expected to play a significant role in nurturing essential childhood skills such as teamwork, discipline, and respect. Playing, widely regarded as the highest expression of human development in childhood, offers children a natural and free way to express themselves and tap into their creativity.

Cllr Zama Sokhabase, Chairperson of the Community Services Committee, and Cllr Sisoka, Committee Whip, were in attendance to show their full support for the initiative. Their presence underscored the importance of investing in the development of young children and the role that sport can play in shaping their lives.

The donation is seen as a significant boost to the KwaMasuku ECD Centre, which provides a critical foundation for the cognitive, social, and emotional development of children in the community. By providing access to sporting equipment, the centre can now offer a more comprehensive and engaging experience for its young learners.

This initiative is a testament to the eThekwini Sport Development Department’s commitment to promoting healthy lifestyles and developing the potential of young children in the region.
